Ian P. Musselman

Ian Musselman joined the American Continental Group in 1999 as an Associate and presently serves as a Senior Associate, directing the firm’s Indian Affairs and non-profit practices.

Mr. Musselman provides strategic political and business counsel in issue areas including Indian affairs, education, non-profit, appropriations, energy, foreign affairs, transportation and defense.  Specifically, Mr. Musselman has concentrated on building an Indian gaming practice serving several tribes and machine manufacturing entities. 

In addition to serving as a Senior Associate at ACG, Mr. Musselman is the Executive Director of the Defense Commercial Vendors Coalition (DCVC).  The DCVC is a consortium of commercial vendors in the defense industry that promote acquisition reform and support a free market for competing technologies. 

While working at American Continental Group, Mr. Musselman was Deputy Staff Director of the Columbia Shuttle Memorial Trust, a non-profit organization formed for the purpose of establishing a trust for the families of the fallen astronauts onboard the Space Shuttle Columbia.  Mr. Musselman was instrumental in raising over $2.5 million for the families of the fallen astronauts.    
  
Mr. Musselman began his career as an aide to Senator Strom Thurmond, while the Senator was President Pro Tempe of the US Senate.  He then became an advisor to Lindsey Graham, the Senior Senator from South Carolina.  Mr. Musselman has continued to assist Senator Graham in several capacities, including assisting his successful campaign for U.S. Senate in 2002 and currently sits on his advisory committee for his 2008 Senate re-election campaign.

Mr. Musselman was also active on several federal and state campaigns, including the successful races run by President Bush in 2000 and 2004, South Carolina Governor Mark Sanford, Lt. Governor Andre Bauer, and South Carolina Senator Jim DeMint.   

 Mr. Musselman earned a Bachelor of Arts in American Studies from Colby College in Waterville, Maine.
