Working closely with the Senate and House Banking Committees, as well as the Senate Finance and House Ways & Means Committee, American Continental Group ensures that the decision makers on Capitol Hill understand the complexities and unique circumstances of our client’s issues.  We also provide outreach to the Department of Treasury and the Department of Commerce, who impact many day-to-day issues on finance. 

Our team of Shawn Smeallie, Carl Thorson and Ambassador Peter Terpeluk have the experience to guide you through the process.  Mr. Smeallie served as an aide to Former Senator Alfonse D’Amato, Chairman of the Senate Banking Committee from 1994 to 1998, also handled banking and finance issues while serving as Special Assistant to the President for Legislative Affairs at the White House during the Administration of George H.W. Bush. Mr. Thorsen was responsible for banking and finance issues as Chief Counsel for the Majority Leader of the House of Representatives and former US Ambassador to Luxembourg Peter Terpeluk, worked extensively on Trade and EU issues during his appointment in Luxembourg from 2002 to 2005.
