The principals at American Continental Group have worked on many of the leading energy and environmental issues.   We have successfully represented energy and natural resources companies and non-profits organizations on Capitol Hill and before the Executive Branch.  American Continental Group Managing Partner Shawn Smeallie was a chief architect of the Environmental Policy Act of 1992, and has been active on Superfund, Clean Air Act and Corporate Average Fuel Economy (CAFÉ) issues during his 25 year career in Washington.

Since the firm’s inception, we have represented many of the most progressive energy related firms including the Edison Electric Institute, National Grid, Sunoco, Siemens, a coalition of Public Utility Holding Companies and many others.  From greenhouse gases, oil profits, CAFE standards and other environmental issues, our professionals are active industry advocates.
